The term Costambar is short for “Amber Coast.” It is the name of an exotic, peaceful and secluded community just 3 miles from historic Puerto Plata and 20 minutes from the airport. Started in the 1970’s as Puerto Plata’s first model tourist town, todays Costambar is a potpourri of different architectural styles, tourist and residents of various nationalities who mix with the locals to create an eclectic atmosphere.
The rough entrance road is really a challenge, but once you get past it, you can enjoy a white, sandy beach protected by coral reefs, many restaurants and entertainment facilities.
Well stocked minimarkets are within a walking distance from your choice of accommodations.
A scenic 9- hole golf course, for golfers and non golfers alike, this community and its beach is certainly worth a visit.
